    4x4 VXR coming?

I have been sent these pics by a good friend.

This was spotted at Frankfurt airport last week, now it shows quite clearly its running an all wheel drive set up. This could mean one of the following things:

    1. Its a test mule for another car like the new frontera utalising the astra shell and/or platform for testing.

    2. It could be a duel fuel car possible? Or Electric?

    3. It maybe used as an allroad type astra estate?

    4. A 4x4 VXR (my favorite thought )

What ever it is it does show that the astra body and maybe chasis is capable of holding an all wheel drive set up Hopefully its what the VXR needs

    Huuummmmmmmmmmm very interesting.

It would be nice to see an Astra WRC, as it's been a long time since works VX team were out on the gravel.

It looks too lightweight for a balls out off roader to me,

whats the point in using an astra to test things ment for a big heavy off roader

pretty gay idea hope its not true

these types of cars are crap volvo tryed it and audi are about to theres not much point to them

    4. A 4x4 VXR (my favorite thought )

i very much hope so would keep me loyal to vauxhall planning on leaving soon as i need a rear wheel drive but cant insure a monaro or vx220.

this would sort out all the torque steer problems and mean alot of power could be used

problem will be price, its bound to be around 26K for a 4x4 VXR!! However Vauxhall do want to enforce the VXR brand and give it some credabilty, this could be a good way to do it. Also with the VXR coming out so early in the H life period it would make sense to release a more powerfull version before the H's life cycle is finished.

Not the First time Opel has been testing a 4X4 they were testing one in the Astra G a while back, and from what I have heard it was/is in the pipeline for the Astra H. But I would imagine that the Antera/Frontera will come out first and then be followed possebly in other models.

Of course point 1 is probably the more likely scenario. MatSXI testing is done on a variety of platforms with the hope of 1) testing longterm reliability and 2) digusing the setup so that no one else knows what is next and testing can be completed without snoops jumping out of bushes with camera's.
