    Brakes

I have a 1.8 coupe and i've just bought some new alloys. The wheels are five spokes and the gaps are huge, showing off my 2p-like brakes. I am going to get bigger ones but im confused as to whether i have 308's already or thats just the turbo models?

The reason i ask is because i was going to buy those brackets from Regal which allow you to fit 308mm discs with the standard calipers. I know it would be easier to whip off a wheel and measure them, but its so damn cold out.

Ah right, so i WILL need the brackets from Regal for 308's.

Does anyone know how big of a job it is to go up to 350's? what will have to change?

As above you've got 280's on - if you want to upgrade to 308's all you need is the discs, the brackets and turbo pads (same size as normal ones but better material).

Try LMF for the parts, as Regal are usually expensive

Yes they can get them - hence me suggesting them

The turbo discs are plain, not drilled/groved

    Here's mine...

ahh yeah, silly me eh? What would anyone recommend then for a brake set up? i want them obviously to do a job, but i also want them to look cool behind my new rims. I've already decided to go with new aluminium 4 pots from Hi-Spec, probably in gold.

    Suggestions?

    308mm on my 1.8 under 16's

the Hi spec ones look nice but i did not like them that much i sent them back
how much you want to spend???
200 a 308mm setup works very well for cars upto 260bhp
next up would be Ds2500 pads 70 some of the best pads i have used

next up would be a set of brembo's but your looking at 800ish for a set up

at the end of the day it comes down to money how much do you want to spend
the 308mm set up will work fine on the N/A cars

800 for 350's right? the Hi-Spec 4 pots are 198 a corner, so 800 would get all my brakes lookin nice. Why did u not like the Hi-Specs? And what do the vxl's look like? I want them as much for the look as the function.

vxl = the vauxhall set up mate

i dont like Hi spec stuff as i found it bad
i had a set up from them the first astra g set up they used my car to make it
the disc was a bmw 735 with the center milled out an had a bell screwed to that the disc's are crap
    but they did look nice
Hi spec ones are 198 a corner for the caliper mate ontop of this you need pads 60
    disc's 300
    brake lines 30
washers to pack it out 1

if you want to go as big as a 350mm your looking at around 1000 mate as a min
