    Question Battery recommendations

As the cold weather is well and truly here, my battery is feeling the effects and the car only just fires in the mornings.

I would like to get a replacement before it gives up well and truly.

Now I don't want a cheapo one the die's within a year, and I don't quite have the funds for one of optima's finest red or yellow tops. So can anyone recommend a decent replacement? Car is a Mk4 SRI.

    Ta!

I have a Vauxhall 72 amp "go" battery, I paid around £60 for it.

It fits in the battery tray, but your existing batter cover won't fit it.
Tell me what you've done, not what you're going to!

I like Lucas batteries. They last for years upon years. The tractor at home would tend to knacker a £30-wonder battery once a year (due to antiquated charging system). The Lucas batteries last 5-6 years no problems.

I need to get my battery in the Astra looked at under NetworkQ - one of the cells looks like it's overheated at one point, as the label is all burnt and melted. Cranking is a bit feeble on frosty mornings too.

Cheers for all the suggestions so far! It's looking like the bosch Silver top battery at the moment!

Forzie mate, if that blue top battery is in good working order, I'll have it off ya for a £5 ;-)

HAVE YOU SEEN THE PRICE OF THOSE THINGS!? google it, what model number/poart number is it.
