    CD Changers

Am looking at replacing my head unit and was thinking about a CD changer, but wondered what your experiences were with them?

My friend has his standard on fitted under his parcel shelf and every bump he goes over makes the changer shake and scratches his CDs. I don't know if it's just the placement or would this happen to all changers?

I thought about a changer, but went for an ipod instead. Personally I can't be doing with the hassle of always having to go the boot (or wherever) and removing the whole cartridge to change a disk.

I reckon his problem is down to the placement though, the parcel shelf just floats, it's not fixed down and is very flimsy, so doesnt absorb the shock of the bumps.

Has he got the position set right on the changer? Most of them have a bit on the side, which you have to turn depending on what angle the changer is install, ie vertically or horizontally. When I had my astra coupe, I fitted a pioneer changer into the glovebox and never had any troubles.

I am running a Sony CDX-F7500 CD/MP3 player with a Sony T69 6-disk CD changer in the glove box, ony had it jump a ccouple of times when hitting pot holes, but the suspension on the car is a bit stiff, otherwise its great.

The changer fits nicely on the top half of the plastic glovebox shelf. I got a spare glove box so I could cut a small hole in the side panel to fit the audio cables through.
I used soem double side foam tape to stick it down with and gives a little extra dampening...

Generally CD multiplayers shouldn't jump at all. If your mates was fitted as standard like that i'm surprised he hasn't gone back with it

Like you see with MarkC most of the multiplays are small enough to fit in a glovebox now although i'd be thinkig of investing in a MP3 headunit where you can get around 7 albums onto 1 CD
