What engine is in my car please?

Its a mk4 1.816v 1999 registered (115bhp). My guess is that its a X18XE1? I believe there are Z18XE and X18XE2? Put me right! thanks for any info
    Cheers Rich.

It's a X18XE1, the later 1.8 was the Z18XE but didn't appear till around 2000 and was 123bhp. Easy to tell the difference as the Z18 has a large cannister CAT on the exhaust manifold and the X18XE1 doesn't.

Exactly right coz Ive got a 1999 1.8 Sport and thats got the 113bhp engine which is the X18XE1. Im tempted to get a performance CAT though just for the hell of it. Might need it if I do a lot of performance mods.

Get the 200cpi Sports cat and marry it up with a Lexmaul 4-2-1 manifold and that will work great. Craggy was selling a Lexmaul manifold a while ago, he may still have it.

He never advertised it, he just offered it to me and a couple of others who were discussing exhausts at the time. PM him, he's in the members list. It was Sept when he offered it so he may have sold it on but he definetely never put it up for general sale on this site.

Z18XE i woulda thought, anything after X/2000 reg they boosted the power to 123bhp in a new style engine. Anyway, (to Oddjob) i'll give him a try and hope hes still got the CAT, if not, oh well, i'll get other chances
