    Exclamation Speeding in France

Has anyone been caught speeding in France? What happens? A fine? Arrest? Does it affect your UK licence?

    Cheers.

You get a fine i belive, but i think the rules will be or have changed so that they give a fine and 3 points get put on your license back here.

Don't know if France is the same but I have been caught in Holland a few times now and always got a fine which has to be paid within a certain time or you get daily late payment penalties.

I got caught once doing 103 kph in a 100 kph zone

To bloody right it is, 2 MPH over

Really p***** me off when it came through in the post 2 months later, I knew where and when it was but thought I'd got just on the speed limit when the onward facing camera caught me

i'm pretty sure if they are feeling nasty they can stop you from driving and take you to the nearest port....

at least i'm fairly sure that's now the case

I've had a bit of a research myself, and looks like if you're doing about 25mph over the limit (or more) then they can instantly ban you from driving in France. This is a bit of a pain in the @ss if there's no one else in the car who can drive it - as you have to pay costs to get the car back to England! This scenario doesn't appear to affect your UK licence, just your journey back to UK. Not sure how long the ban is for either and I guess you get a fine too...

Nar all you will get is an on the spot 90 euro fine, which if you don't have they will escort you to a cash machine to get. If you can't pay then you could end up in prison until it and another fine is paid or have your car towed.

But from personal experience they all drive shitty diesel Clio's and a 1.6 16v Mk4 can, and does, leave them for dead

If for some unknown reason you do stop for them be prepared for a very mob handed approach. My mate, who was keeping up with me, decided to stop and they dragged him and his missus out of the car at gun point and basically roughed him up whilst "padding" his girlfriend down...and informing him that his friend in the white car was going too fast

Oh and they aren't that intense on speed limits. Last time I went through France my girlfriend was driving, in her little Clio, around 90mph. Plod pulled up behind her flashed the lights and then got along side and told her to speed up.
