Question computer help - cant delete folder

    please help a computer novice

i plugged my mp3 player into the PC, sychronized files,

it made loads of folders, each full of mp3s. It calls the folders by the album name, so one of my folders is called "in search of . ." but that folder is causing me problems - i cant rename, move, cut, delete, open, this folder

i guess the dots are illegal characters arent they ?

how can i delete this folder ?? (idiots guide please)

" cannot delete folder: cannot read from source file or disk "

    thanks in advance

Hmmm try (thinks how to word this) moving all the other album folders out of your main music (ie My Music) folder but leave this problem folder.

Past the other album folders on to your desktop.

Now delete "My Music" Empty recycle bin then go back into my documents and create a new folder called "My Music" and paste theother albums back into there?

    http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/moveonboot.html

Try that - if its the one I think it is, it adds a few new options to your right click menu (I use it), move on boot, delete on boot, copy here etc - Basically, right click the folder, select 'delete on boot', it'll say its done it, and when you reboot, it'll delete it before windows has a chance to get its grubby little mitts on it. Although, from re-reading your post, it sounds like its already been deleted, yet still showing up, or you unplugged the mp3 player...or its already gone either way lol

Here is another that delete things on boot - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/killbox.php - Its called Killbox and requires no installation to use - Just run it, browse to the file/folder, choose the delete on boot option and click the big red X

both the 'delete on boot' programs work perfect on files, but wont let you remove folders

what do i need to do in safe mode ?

the folder has been there for days

windows wont let me delete 'my music' either cos that folder is in there

    grrrrrrrr
