    whiring sound when car sitting idle

    I have noticed a whiring sound when car is sitting idle,or even when driving off through the first couple of gears sound comes from the left side of the engine,people i have went to are not sure one guy said might be altinator..

    to check if its the alternator remove the fan belt and see if the noise stops

    What year is your astra if its the mk4 its a self adjuster on the fan belt just adjust this and the fan belt comes off easily just remember how it is set up for putting it back on
