    H/U changes

Hello all, it's been a while since I've posted, but I have been keeping an eye on the Forum.

The thing I'm wanting to know is. You know when you put an aftermarket H/U in a Mk4 and if the memory doesn't get stored you have to change the continious power leads round.

Well, I'm going to get a new H/U which is more up-to-date and I can get the adaptors for it so I can use the steering wheel controls.

So if I install the adaptors, will the power leads need swapping back or should I just leave them as they are, so the new H/U will keep it's memory??

    Thanks for the help guys.

Depends on the HU .... some need it some dont.

The pioneer units have swapable power connections to be able to do it....
I'm sure other manufacturers also think of this...

when i first fitted my HU i swopped the power and ignition around and it worked fine, kept memory etc, but then i fitted about 2months later a adaptor with steering wheel controls and it lost memory so the adaptor does it for you mate.
thats on my sony HU autoleads version anyways

Riiiigggghhht. Cheers guys. I'm going to be getting a new Alpine H/U shortly so I guess the best thing to do would be to get it all hooked up with the adaptor and see what happens. Just wanted to make sure before I start splicing wires open again.

    Cheers guys
