    Bonnet lifters

Has anybody had any problems with these. I fitted a set to mine (Hatchback, if that makes any difference)

It is just that they seem to touch the inner wings, to the point that they have worn through the paint. I took them off but then thought that I may have came up with what the problem might be...

There is a bit of foam either side of the bay where the seal runs across the bulkhead to seal the 2 parts off. I didn't remove this but let it get squashed by the gas strut. I don't want to go through fitting them (again) without knowing I won't have to remove them (again!)

I like them, but not as much as wings without rust!

    Thanks in advance.

Check the how to's - I added a fitting guide for bonnet liftes over the weekend. If you're not sure where they are click my sig.

Looking at the new 'how to' on the last picture, you can see the bit of foam I was on about. On the 3rd picture is the bit that touches the top bit of the wing. I might just leave them off, but it seems a shame, cos I like them!

Do you mean that the rubber is pushing the strut onto the wing ?
If so, you could just remove it....

Is it this rubber at the top :

That's the one - it seemed very soft on mine so i thought it would be ok to leave it, but I'll have another go and remove those pesky rubber bits.

Although this leaves me with another problem - what brackets to use on my ice install as I am planning on using a spare pair of gas struts I have on my amp rack to lift it clear of the spare wheeel!

Yep, that cured it! always remember to take those foam seals on the bonnet! It clears by a mile - well, about a millimetre really!

    Cheers for the help lads!
