    Lightbulb Headlamp Bulb Sizes

    I've done a search but couldn't find anything here.

    Just wondering what each of the three blub sizes are in Mk4 headlamps.

    Many thanks

    Dipped = H7
    Main = 9005
    Fogs = H3
    Sides = 501

    search: bulb type - about 5 or 6 down

    I've always been confused with the lighting names, just to check:

    Dipped = H7 = Normal lights
    Main = 9005 = The ones you flash people with or use when nobody else is around
    Fogs = H3 = The ones on your front bumper (is this the same size on the GSi?)
    Sides = 501 = The dim ones you use at dusk.

    Right?

    Good good. I ordered an H7 HID kit yesterday, but I want to upgrade the other bulbs too.

    I assume the GSi uses H3 in the fogs too right?

    What about the rear bulbs - anyone know what sizes they are?

    Also, if I put LED rear bulbs in, would this confuse the check control system? - as I've heard that this may be the case (due to difference resistence through the bulbs or something).

    Front indicator bulbs are 120 degree pin ones - cant remember the numbers
    Rear indicator, fog and reverse are normal 180 degrees
    Tail/brake bulbs are 180 degree offset pins

    And leds will confuse the hell out of the check control - but putting a resistor in series in the circuit will replicate the resistance a tungsten bulb and all will be well - no idea what size you need tho
