    Quick alarm question

    Quick one guys,

Can I lock my astra without the alarm switching on?

Reason I ask is if I quickly pop into the shop and leave the dog in the boot and lock the car the alarm always goes off, so can I lock it without the alarm going off???

    Thanks

The answer to this - depends which 'reading lights' you have.
In my SRi, I have the normal courtesy light, and then 2 map reading lights with the switches on the lighting unit on the roof panel (why you need a map light on the drivers side I don't know) but anyway, if you hold in both the map buttons for 2/3 seconds then it deactivates the interior sensors.
You have to lock the car with the remote within 10 seconds, or they will re-arm.
After you unlock the car, they re-arm themselves ready for next time you lock the car.

Sad, but I was waiting for the mrs once, and sat in the car got bored, so read the "Astra quick start guide" - it says on there. I have to say I haven't tried it - but I don't have a dog. Hope this helps.....

It works, tested it a few times and works spot on. The alarm LED indicator on the hazard button flashed repeatedly as soon as you press the 2 map light buttons.

    Thanks again
