    It's about time!

Well after nearly 4 months my insurance claim has now been sorted on my car. It all began when some lad in a car flew out of a junction on a roundabout I was already on and we crashed into each other. Even though the damaged on my car does not look that bad it's still going to cost £2000 to repair mine. It's took so long as he denied it after he admitted it in the first place but he thought he would change his mind again and tried to blame me  . So today I recived a phone call and it's in my favour, I win . It's about time, I can't wait to have her looking all brand new again.

The damage is in the picture above..

    Passenger wing
    2 headlights
    Pro Drive front bumper
    Bonnet
    Cross member (maybe)
    bumper bar (maybe)
    Paint work
    Air con re gassed
    Tracking on wheels
    both arch liners

I was told they may want to pick someone to do it instead of my local Vauxhall garage, I would rather my local Vauxhall dealer fix it so I know it's perfect .

I know a lot about this from a past experience...

You can or should be able to dcitate who you want the repairer to be, but if it is not one of the insurance companies registered repairers then you will not be issued with a free courtesey car...
Also if you are not happy with the overall standard of the repair your insurance company are not oblidged to assist you with having the work re-done...
In your case the worked required is not major although until the wing is removed it's hard to see if the inner wing is damaged and the chassis leg is bent...
With this in mind if the damage is found to be not too severe then most bodyshops should be quite capable of carrying out the work to a satisfactory finish..
A bit of advice though, when you pick up the car when it's ready take a long time looking rond the car and check as much as possible...
Look for the bonnet alignment and gaps around the wing etc..
Make sure no clips are missing from the arch liners, bumper etc..
also check the paint matches and there are no runs aroung the edge panels..
Also insist that you test drive the car before you sign the satisfactory form.. Ohter wise you will have major problems getting and problems sorted once you have signed that form...

Remember one thing.. let your eyes evaluate the workmanhip and not your heart.. ie don't be too desperate to get the car back.. chech and check again..
This way you should remain happy..

    Good luck..

    Tony

What planet do you live on?

Any repairs done by dealer bodyshops I've ever seen have been crap. Ask around and find out who's the best bodyshop near you and get them to do it.

I went with the insurance recommended repairer when I mangled my Astra, and the job they did was passable at best.

Cool, I will want a main Vauxhall garage to repair it as I don't trust a garage I don't know by name. The gap to my passenger door and wing is very close, the wing was catching the door so they will now have to paint the door. The bonnet looks over as the gaps go off on each side. Here are some pictures I took on the day of the accident. My tyres are probably scrubbed a bit now with the tracking being off. Thanks

ZS this is my first ever claim, I don't want no cowboys playing around with my car. If Vauxhall don't do a good job of it they should do it again as they are well known and should be trusted. They will use all brand new parts and some back street garage will probably use second hand parts. I don't know how it all works. Thanks

Well they have just been on the phone and they said they want a local garage called Nationwide enterprise to repair my car. Is it because they are cheaper? I have just asked them to hold things for 5 mins while I think about it. What should I do?

Quickly find out reputation of the company.....

Even ask your vauxhall dealer about there reputation (other company)

Call all your mates that have had crashes...ask anyone you can think of...
