    Question Another diesel question

Can anyone tell me what else you can do to a diesel engine

I have a 2ltr dti 2004 model, and ive derestricted the air box, and it does
    feel a bit more nimble.

But apart from a chip what else is there out there to force a smile
on my face when i put my foot down??

    any help will be great

    Cheers
    smiler

In my experience of trying to find the same answers.... nothing, diesels are good for one thing and one thing only... torque.

you could take the cat off as its not needed on diesels.
a exhaust system would be a good start mate will free upa a free bhp an some torque
a bigger intercooler will also help
and then you could always get a remap your see about 20 to 30% in Bhp&torque

Bigger intercooler, WI, bigger turbo, remap, higher pressure diesel pump.....depends on how much youve got to spend.....

same as any other turbo car it all comes to cash in the end
me my self i like hard ware mods first an then do remaps last on the list
as the map will work nicer with the new hard ware

I plan losing the catalyst and then a remap. I've done all the airbox mods, which didn't do much for performance, but brought the smoke levels down a bit. Still a sooty bugger though.

I was advised to keep the cats, as it helps the pressure in the exaust that the diesels need.

Spoke to a guy who knows quite a bit about diesels (the TDs he works on run at 1200rpm red line and output around 10,000hp) - the best exhaust for a turbo diesel is no exhaust. So losing the cat is beneficial.

i recon ive got about 600 to spend, but not sure what chip to go for for starters
and i was lucky to get an irmshire back box with mine any way

i would love a bigger turbo but no idea where to get one or get it fitted
but i suppose first thing first and go for a remap
