    Question Power Gains

Obviously every car has different reactions to different products, but im interested to see how much things like air filters, exhausts etc actually make a difference to thier cars!

If anyone has say, for an average, a 1.6 16v. What power gains were achieved from the likes of the induction kit, Chip, Exhaust?

I basically want to know how much its going to cost to boost the Bhp figures..

    Over to you guys..

    bugger all
    air filter 1.5 mabe 2bhp
    exhaust 4 or 5?
chip (superchip) should give u another 5 or so
new intake manifold would be a better choice :0
Fitted options: Folding mirrors, cruise control, dual tone horn, remap.

yes cant remember his user name j somehting.

it was running at about 280BHP but he put a hell of a lot of mony and time into it and it was a pretty custom one off job.

    as for general tunning.

basic induction mods won't really see any performance gains (maybe slightly on a RR) but they will improve the responsivness of the engine.

pretty much the smae with the exhuast. a full decat system would see a few BHP released but this will cause issues with the MOT being as there is no cat.

superchips aren't really worth doing an almost standard engine.

they give very little performance increase espially for the cost.

A diblas (sp?) intake manafold is the best mod to do to the 16XE. Gets rid of the overly complicated standard manafold which was actually designed to bring the engine's output down.

hows it do that, whats complicated about the 16xe manifold, unless your refering to the old 16xe lump, that has about 3-4 90degree bends in the air intake, the new ones dont have any its a direct route into the throttle body.

i tried the whole intake manifold scene and to be honest its not worth the £1000 youll spend having it all fitted, my car made just 115bhp with a full catback exhaust, intake manifold and a viper induction kit

as for tuning, the best mod i got for my 1.6 was a superchip, it made the car soooo much more responsive, it pulled all the way round to the red line and incase you didnt know the 1.6 absolutly loves being driven hard.

the whole how far can i tune a 1.6 has been covered so many times, do a little search for it you ll find pages of the same question

like geoff told me once, mods need to be made for the intake, oart of the engine, of compustion and compression would change at all. Very good point when u think about it...

You'd only be loking at a few bhp tops with the above mentioned mods.
