    Question Spigot Rings?

My new wheels arrived yesterday along with bolts and four black plastic rings about three inches in diameter ('spigot rings'). What are they for?

I need to find out so i can fit them

    Thanks.

they go in the middle of the wheel where it connects to the hub to get the correct offset or sumit !

    close

They clip into the centre bore of the rim (from the inside) and take up the space between the rim and the hub, so that the wheels centres correctly.

Most spigot rings have a large thin circlip type device which is meant to locate inside the wheel centre and lock the spigot ring in place. So you can't lose one when you remove a wheel.

So the spiggot ring is suppose to sit flush with the inside face of the wheel, as im having problems with my alloy wheels at the moment with uneven spinning and the spiggot rings dont sit flush with the inside face of alloy

The spigot ring is supposed to fit exactly the inside of the centre cap area. If you take the spigot out, it should also fit exactly over the bearing housing. It's there as a spacer between the bearing housing and the wheel centre machining. It has to fit exact or it's useless.

I have a spare alloy around with a spigot ring fitted, if you want I can take a pic so you can see exactly how it's supposed to fit.

Plz take a pic Oddjob, would be great to see how there suppose to fit into the wheel, as ive got a bit of wheel wobble on my fronts, hoping its the discs that have got dirt trapped between them though.

You need spigot rings when aftermarket wheels are fitted and steering wheel starts to vibrate really bad at 60+mph. Most times youll get away with it though but 2 sets off alloys ive bought needed them I had a nightmare getting some to fit my kahn alloys, there not even 1mm thick for mine, fit snugly inside wheel and sits on hub.
