Some kits (like mone) recommend that the engine is running when the lights are turned on.

YOu have connected the bulds to the ignighters/ballasts? When fitting mine, on the first light I did I tried it and it did not work and then discovered I had not connected the bulb!

serious oil problem, head gasket is the reason NORMALLY for oil in the water jacket, but around the intercooler? maybe turbos oil seals? best get it to a garage? is it still under warenty?

Spoke to Duff today, we've decided the following:

    Either:
    a) The head gasket has gone, blowing oil into the water and out of the engine breather into the tub due to crankcase pressure
    b) The head gasket has gone, blowing oil into the water, and the oil in the intercooler is due to the turbo seals going
    c) The head gasket has gone, blowing oil into the water, and the oil in the IC is due to an overfill of oil it had a while back

He's going to take the crankcase breather off and see if there's any oil present, which will at least let him know if the turbo is up the left along with the head gasket.

His car isn't under warranty, which is a shame, as it's a 2000 model. Considering the age and milage (100k), it really is a minter.

Age and milage have nothing to do with it.... My partners Tigra`s gasket when recently, its a 2000 model and done 46k. Hers was pi*@ing water into the 4th clyinder!

That's not what I meant Andy, I meant that for it's milage and age it's in good condition. I've seen head gaskets go at 10k on 6 month old cars.

Well duff keep us posted, and thanks for the update ZS, shame when this happens. But i agree the HId's are the least of your probs. Concentrate on whats causing this, and get it to a garage and get it sorted..... Sooner rather than later.
