    low idle

Hi. i have a Mk3 GSi 1.8 and find that at the traffic lights the idle slowly drifts towards the 650-700 mark. I don't think this is at all normal and it has on occasion stalled. Also, when I go over 60mph with the radio on, the radio gets louder. Could this be an alternator prob?

The low idle and stalling has all the moeks of a clogged ICV - this governs idle speed. It's a simple jod to clean, with just a can of carb cleaner. You may as well clean the throttle body while you've got access to it. Have a read of this

As for the radio - sounds like you got the speed related volume activated. I'm assuming you've got the standard CAR400 - if so press the U or M for at least three secs and you should hear a beep. The display will now read "SD-VOL" and a number. Press the tunimg controls to set the number to 'O' , and press and hold the U or M button to get a confirmation beep to deactivate it.
