    Expensive tyres on mk5 Astra!

Had a flat the other morning on my rear O/S wheel.
Put on the comedy space saver and got a few quotes - Cheapest was £105!!

Luckily fortune was on my side and it was repairable (£10!) but it made me panic as the car only has 7k miles on it.

Those Conti Sport Contact 2s are pricey, especially when they are 225/45 17" jobs!
Still not as bad as the Pilots Sport on the old car - £160 each!

I hate the price of tyres !!!
Still totally bamboozles me that 17's are still expensive.

must keep telling myself they are a very important safety feature and can save your life !!!

It's one thing I won't skimp on but when it comes to replacement time, I'll be sticking much cheaper Eagle F1s on.
I expected pricy tyres on the Golf (225/40 18") but not on the Astra!

I found a place doing cheap tyres locally to me. I paid £150 for 2 Uniroyal Rainsports (17" for my old Astra).

Got to work out how much 265/40/18s are for my Zed.

My mate had a 300ZX a couple of years ago.
The tyres were well over £200 each and they were smaller than yours!

The 205/50-16s on my SXi aren't cheap either. About £80 a pop for decent ones. Hence the reason why the dealer put on Kingstar Skidmasters.

Was chatting to a mate who has a new shape Megane. It's got 8000 miles on the clock from new, and all 4 tyres were bald. Whatever size they are, they only tyre available for it is the Conti SportContact 2. I think it was 205-55/17. He got a bill for £700 for the 4 tyres. He rang Renault and gave off, and asked if he could put on a different size tyre. They said he could, but they'd void the whole car warranty if he did...

Rediculous they should fit such an unsuitable tyre to a vehicle like that - most people with MPVs do big miles, and generally don't need to be putting tyres on every 8k.

Nah, just my nickname. Bit like the old favourite, the Woosung Ditchfinders

I had Falkens once on my mk3 Golf.
Okay in the dry, flipping deadly in the wet - Didn't even wait for them to wear down before I stuck Eagle F1s on!
