    Question Alarm Key Fob Distance

Just wondering what sort of distance every1 can stand away from their car to turn the alarm on/off?

I find i have to stand right next to my car, any further and the key fob wont turn the alarm on/off?

Might pop down and get another battery for the key fob and see if that lets me stand a bit further away, but its been like this since i had the car.

(Its a mk4 astra with the standard alarm btw)

    thanks

It depends on the what angle you approach mycar from - sometimes it quite short and sometimes a good way away.

Right now it is parked about 50ft from the window and I can open pop the locks form here.

If you hold the keyfob against your head and press the button you can stand further away than normal (saw this on an old episode of Top Gear this afternoon)

The key works better near your head as the fluid in your head amplifies the signal. A good battery (energiser lithium) works well too.

Any Mk4 I've seen up to 2002 seems to have about 1m range depending on what angle you're approaching the car.

My 2003 Mk4 seems to have the same 8m range as my Corsa C did, I can lock it from my bedroom when the car is parked at the top of the garden.
