    Evo 3 weeks on

Had the Evo 3 weeks now so thought Id post up with an update:

The drive of the car never fails to put a smile on my face, covered 500miles so far and its been an absolute blast. Handling wise, as you would expect with a 4x4 is immense, as is the acceleration.......the most noticable thing is that where the likes of the GSi and my mates S3 start to slow down over 100mph, the Evo continues to pull strongly right up through 140 towards its limit of 150 (runs out of revs there).

As a toy the car excelles however I really wouldnt want it as an everyday car, due to the fact it does need to warm itself up a bit, and the suspension etc. is solid (the clutch is a bit heavy as well for heavy traffic use.

Fuel - fuel wise the car is pretty good on it, even driven hard the last tank lasted 318miles, it took £48.82 to fillit on optimax @ 100.9p a litre, which is about the same as the GSi;s etc were getting and better than the sports hatch. Although once the cars been re-mapped in the not too distant future this will drop big time to arounf 250 to a tank.

    Upgrades so far:

Mongoose 3 1/2" cat back exhaust (which is stil fairly subtle even at high revs)
HKS Induction kit inc. hard pipe (the sound from this is awesome, you hear the standard recirc D/V dumping and it is feckin loud)
Ralliart front pipe - bought but not fitted yet
The car should be getting remapped in about 4-5weeks but before that I need to get and fit an uprated fuel pump and de-cat pipe which should see power around 350-360bhp.
Also look at some new wheels but undecided at the moment.

I had an FQ300 on loan and it was such a nightmare that i would never have one. Agreed awesome performance and IMO there is not much on the road that humbles them. I got hacked off with piss poor fuel economy, every chav and his mate wanting to race and the fact you couldn't just take it to town shopping on a saturday - sticks out to much IMO.

Glad your enjoying it though Dave

So all good then Dave glad its turned out to be a good choice and I'm amazed at the fuel consumption, sounds not far off what I'm getting.

What do you mean with the "needs to warm its self up a bit"

Gonna be a tool once the remaps sorted

LN - nope far from being a shopping, as I said, if it was an everyday car it would do my nut in. Fuel consumption has been presently suprising but the 300;s and above get a lot lot less. The 260 does have the added bonus of being able to run on normal unleaded without any problems.

Legoman - when cold the engine itself is very "rough", until it gets some heat in, gearbox is the same, until its done a mile or so the change is "stiff"

Seblock: pic below tad outdated, picture doesnt do anything for the colour, does look better in the flesh

Dave - Is that a standard EVO with mods or an FQ model?
Looks very nice - I like the new ones.
