    Stealth shelves (pics+info?)

Right, Ill be insured on my astra as of saturday and i took the 6x9's out of my old car the other day, probably gonna stick them in the astra. In my old car i got a 2nd hand parcel shelf, cut the holes in that (Harder than youd think!) and then covered with some acoustic carpet stuff form maplins, which looked as standard (as opposed to a 'stealth shelf' which is obviously hiding something)

Only problem is in the astra the parcel shelf's a kinda different shape which could prove more difficult to attatch the carpet, seeing as you cant glue it, because the glue soaks through the fabric.

And ideas/pictures of what youve done? Double sided tape is an option, but not desirable.
    Cheers, Tom.

If you must fit 6x9's (general opinions of them are not good), then I would recommend you do the same with an old shelf, but add carpet so looks like an inlay.

Or, get a proper stealth shelf.

Yeah, well im not too fussed about putting them in, but it seems more logical as i already have them, they'd fetch bugger all on ebay. Not really up for spending money on one, but i dont mind making one as ive got some leftover carpet form the last time.

the only thing i would be worried about is the weight. the standard parcel shelf is not the strongest in the world.

i wouldn't pu them in - i'd save a little and get some components or look on ebay for some.
Much much better sound from them.

I'm sure d dave has made a stelth shelf so hopefully he can post some pictures of it later. I personallly would be worried that the elastic that holds it to the tailgate will be up to the job

Is it a 3 door car? Thought about getting them into the rear quarters?

I woudlnt bother with the elastic cords anyway. And nah its a 5 door, would there even be enough room to put them in with a 3 door? haha.

I would get some components, but as i say im only thinking about this as theyre kicking about.

I think so with a little work of course to the metal panel

(mate wanted to put 6 x 9's in mine

Yes before you all say this is a coupe but I believe there is the same room in the 3 door
