Some of you may or may not know that my car has been used for a test of the new switchable EDS maps. The idea of the maps being that you can switch between Full boost and Economical modes. Basically from what i understood 2 maps are uploaded to the car. You then fit a switch (supplied by Regal) that allows you to choose which map you want to run. Basically it has the same principal as a 'sport' button. Now i have had this fitted and tested today and it works perfectly. Even the econimcial map is better then standard!
And here are the results:
Phase II - Full boost: 238 bhp @ 4615rpm / 308.9lb/ft torque @ 3688 rpm
Econimical: 195.9 bhp @ 5638rpm / 201.7/ft torque @ 4175 rpm
EDS Phase II, EDS Intercooler, EDS Powerpipe, NGK Plugs, K&N Panel filter, Bailey D/V, BFO Exhaust system, EDS Precat
Comments from operator:
Waste gate and Actuator tired. Loads of Torque though.
Not bad for a 3 year old turbo! I do have some play in the wastegate which can be seen, so i will have to get this looked into in the long run.
The drive on Phase II is awesome and simply is so fun to drive. It makes me grin everytime i hit the switch. The drive in the econimcal mode is also very good. Far better than the standard Vaux map which has a flat spot at around 4000rpm. Im going to like being able to use the Eco option on trips to and PV.
I would seriously suggest that everyone gets the switch, as it is well worth the money. Also it will allow you to not get bored of your current map by constantly having the car on a full power map!
Thanks again to Chris / Karen and Phil and at Regal for all their hard work and effort!
