    What car for 3-4K

I am selling my Mk3 GSI (see classifieds) and am getting a new car for around 3-4k.
It needs to have low milage and reliable as I do approx. 250 miles a week to work, and comfortable as well. I wont take a step down in performance or looks but have no idea what car to get and just wondered if you lot had any suggestions.

So far I have looked at:
    Mk3 Golf GTi
Mk4 Golf GTi (not many about for 4k and they have high milage)
    BMW 3 Series
Mk4 Astra SRI (not many about for that price that I can see)
    Vectra GSI (too big)
    Audi A4 (too big)

Has anyone got any suggestions to add to the list above or any comments on the cars. All help would be appreciated as I am running out of ideas.

Out of that list i'd go for the mk3 golf but in vr6 spec. I've been looking for a change myself and have gone to see a few of these, but it will be a big step up from a mk3 1.4 astra

exactly what i was going to say, 3-4k will get you a good VR6.

ive just bought a fresh import MR2 G-Limited for around that money... you can get turbo's pretty cheap too... what about something like that?

    VR6 is a nice choice, and would be a E36 coupe... like a 323i or earlier 325i
