Siphoning (sp) fuel from a mk4 astra?

Basically, my next door neighbour is chopping his mk4 (1.6 sxi 3dr hatch) into BMW on monday as he collects his new car.

He has a full tank of fuel and wants his money worth....so he wants to remove it from the car

Is there a quick/safe/easy to drain the fuel?

    any hints and tips please?

Or should I tell him to leave it?

disconnect the fuel line from the fuel filter and drain it into a gerry can.

You first Steve! Cant see a problem with it, untill it hits the motor inside.

Just thought, why not take the car for one last blatt, a lap round the M25 or something, use the fuel up?

That happened to me when I traded in the Corsa - had 3/4 of a tank left. So, I just drove all the way up the motorway in 3rd. Used most of it.

Will there be enough pressure for it to all come out? Spose the rule of gravity means it will come out easy enough?

Think you may have to open the filler cap too so there isnt a vacuum above the petrol stopping it from falling out. (if that makes sense.... I could be wrong anyway though)

    And no.... do tell.
    Is it in shops yet?

Disconnecting ther full line will take ages - it just dribbles out.

Just get a decent length of clean hose. sutff it down the filler tube and suck to getr it going. Be prepared for 95Ron belches for a few hours, if you swallow any tho
