How the ?@#!z$%.? Did I scratch it ?

Washed the car the other day.

On looking at it in the light, there appear to be scractches and mark on the roof and bonnet.

I always wash with two buckets and a mitt (using Meguiars gold class, four caps in a bucket).

Dryed off with a Autoglym synthetic chamois that was rinsed frequently.

I rinsed the car frequently so can't see how I could possibly scratch it, unless it's a case of the mitt being worn out ....?

I scratch-xd the bonnet the other week/Meguiar's Std 2 Polish/Applied 30% Carnuaba Wax by hand, so scratches can only have been done by recent cleaning.

    Any ideas ?

this might not be any help, but.. do they look like marks & scratches that would be caused in the washing process?... becuase its not uknown for cats to crawl onto cars to keep warm in the sun and also.. around where i live i get birds landing on my car for a wee seat & rest and they leave muddy little footprints and can.. on some paints.. leave small scratches, it could be something like that mate

Come to think of it the cats have had muddy feet.

It is like a building site around us, with them building new houses.

Think that will probably be it, not me adding the scratches but the damn cats.

Anybody want two black ones..? (are'nt they suppose to be lucky...?)

I'm living on a just finished building site and my paintworks a damned mess - I think its the wind sort of 'sandblasting' the paintwork that causes it Especially if the lazy ass builders dont keep the site very clean...

.....did JJ not recommend using 2 mitts ...

although the dirt should stay in the base of them.

Mate try two mitts and two buckets.

If that fails, try three mitts and three buckets. then 4 and 4 buckets.

It sound like the wee cats have scratched your precious. I would use more than one mitt though, one is difficult to keep very clean.
