Angry Could there be a thief at Royal Mail??

I ordered 4 bulbs and a silicone hose from speeding.co.uk. I recieved the box this morning , opened the box which had the tape cut to find nothing but fresh air . That means that some where between it leaving speeding.co.uk and getting here some **** as stolen the bits from the box. I ran after the postman and got my signature removed from the form (as it was recorded delivery).
I phoned royal mail who said " oh we will just have to send it back to the sender" yeah great . I also called speeding.co.uk who said they would send some new bulbs etc when they get the empty box back on monday . So at least ill get them in the end.

Typical for the royal mail. I heard that they "lose" 200k pieces of mail a week. Dont know if its that much but the amount of problems we have at work with missing mail is shocking.

At least theres "light" at the end of the tunnel for you tho

i've had blockbuster dvd rentals go missing in the post quite alot.

we send stuff daily at work by 'special delivery' (pay the extra bit to make sure it gets there next day) a good 20-30% of the packages don't get there next morning and sometimes i've found a package i've send 1st class or even PARCEL POST has gotten there next day. go figure

we have the same problem with our mail deliverys in work... Difinatly a poor service from the royal mail. However i can see how it would be easy to "Lose" stuff when so much is passed through the company each day etc. However they do need to get there act together

A lot of those blockbuster dvds come through without an address form in , or two become stuck together because of the poor use of packaging, also a lot of things that go "missing" are undeliverable things that aren't correctly addressed and have no return address. Make sure you put postcodes on,a return address and pack things well. Things fall out of letters when they go through the machines, and you can't trace what envelopes they have come out of. There are a few dodgy people at Royal Mail, but its a bit harsh to slag off the whole company.

Angry i have to pretty much agree - more likely there is more than 1 thief

I had a tomtom go sent to me by turbo toe off here (last week), he sent it recorded and insured for its full value (£300) and guess what, they "lost" it... well i havent seen it yet either !

Not the first time either... bought a mobile phone off ebay a while back for my dad, worth £300 and they sent it 1st class recorded and same as above, they had no idea where its gone, and both had my FULL ADDRESS...

When i went to the royal mail site to track the phone, (havent asked turbo toe for the tracking number for the tomtom yet) it says u can only track it after it has been signed for.... and it hasnt been signed for so they have no record of it being delivered ! To top it all off, the phone compensation given back to my dad was £28 and i am worrieed about the tomtom although Turbo Toe has said i will get my money back...

They are known as Royal Snail and also as Royal Fail ! (to me anyway)
