Just wait till Vauxhall update the rest of their engines with the BMW double-vanos as they have done with the 1.8 for the facelifted Vectra. Variable cam timing and phasing, updated version of Twinport...

VTEC is OK if you don't mind having an engine that's pretty much useless in city driving sitations, and don't mind going deaf as you have to rev it's tits off to get anything to happen.

If you class economical as useless of course. It makes sense, saves you money when you take it steady and also has the power there when you need it.
The fact they get as much power out of a NA 2.0 16v as vauxhall do with the ZLET says it all. . .

Vauxhall are making these new engines but the japs have been ahead of us for years now, my next motor will defo be japanese. Its just a shame our technology doesnt match theirs. .

Having owned an CTR for 7 months, I have to agree, VTEC is great fun and sounds good too. However, having to thrash the car, its not really my thing.

Have to disagree with the statement about VTEC being useless around town. - They are pretty good - considering the type of speed you drive in town.
Have driven both a CTR and S2K and they are great - more than enough pull for inner town driving
Me run tings.... not tings run me!
