    Brake light switch??

Hi all, im havin another little problem with the eleccies on my sport!!, this time its everytime i turn the lights on the brake lights are permanently on and do not get brighter when braking etc, they just automatically go on as brights as they can when the lights are turned on!! I have been told that this is the brake light switch and that it needs to be replaced, does anyone have a price idea on how much the switch is and how much they are cheers

    They are self setting.

You need to be able to see the top of the brake peddle (Lay on your back upside down on the drivers seat)

You can then see the switch. The switch's 'plunger' can be pulled out to re set it so when the peddle is released it pushes the 'plunger' back in and sets the distance.

If the switch is faulty they are about £12 from Vauxhalls

I might be wrong but... are the bulbs for the tail lights the same for the brakes??? if so you might have the bulb set in the wrong way... ita a common mistake! like i said i may be wrong!

Could also be the connection to the bulb - there're a pretty feeble design, so it's likely that there's a dodgy connection. Or, as Andy says, the bulbs are in backwards.

Doesn't sound like a faulty switch - or they'd be on all the time regardfless of whether the lights are on or not.

I'd be inclines to play around with the blubs/holders - as said above, they are a poor design
