Does mileage matter when buying an Astra?

Hopefully I should be getting my Astra Sxi 1.6 16v some time this week.

Just wanted to ask what I should look for when buying one, because I've seen some with slightly higher than average mileage and it's a shame because these are the ones I usually like.

    So does mileage matter?

Think the best thing is just to balance it with how much they are asking for the car. Not so bad if its high miles an dthey don't want alot. And anything over 40K on the clock check the belts have been changed

Plus look out for if its coming up to 40K service as well. Coz you could be looking at Belt, Rollers, water pump and a full service Ł400 dent in your wallet without breaking a sweat.
just remember high milage is nothing compared to a bad owner who thrashes everywhere he/she goes.

Ok people. Seen a 1999 car with about 80k miles, and another 1999 with 77k miles.

Also seen a few that are over 100k!!! But Im just going to stick with some lower mileage ones. Don't want to buy one with an already battered engine.

Also Im gona have a look at shaun66's and see whats what, cheers bois.

I personally don't have a problem with high miles as the 2 cars previou to this one have had 82k and 95k on the clock when bough and engine wise have been great

Problem comes in selling them on and convincing someone else that milage doesn't matter

I too have spoted an SXi on 60thou'. The guy wants 3695 for it, with 24 months warrenty.

Another dealer is offering a 44 tho' with an RAC guarentee for 3000. However that car is 100 miles away. Which to go for?
