Classic AFM probs in my Coupe Turbo... I think!
Back in Feb, I ran out of fuel when the trip computer said I had 26 miles to go (I was 1 mile from the petrol station, lol). Anyway, I filled up with some crappy '95 ron from BP and 3 miles later, the emissions light came on... I took it to my friendly mechanic who cleared it but about 60-80 miles later, it came on again. I ignored it for a couple of months cos I couldn't afford to have it checked out (stupid, I know). Had it cleared again and suprise, it came on 60-80 mles later. So I've been running with the light on, until yesterday that is, when I decided to clear it using the 'unplug the battery' fix.
Last night, I decided to go for a hard drive to see how the engine performed out of 'safe mode'... Everything seemed to be ok at first but after a couple of miles, booting the throttle to red in 2nd gear and changing to 3rd caused a massive jerk, the emissions light began flashing, the engine lost loads of power and acceleration was ridiculously slow.
The only way to clear the error now is to restart the ignition. Before when the emissions light came on, it just came on and continued to run relatively normally, all be it slower.
What I'd really like to know is why the symptoms have changed? Also, I'm 90% sure that this is being caused by a faulty AFM so does anyone know where I can get a new one really cheap? I can't believe that a sensor in a plastic tube should be so expensive... Please help!!
