Help on A/C. Is this normal??

Hi, If I press the AC switch and turn on the blower, cold air is running through the vent. OK, this is normal......

But when I turn off the blower with the A/C switch on, cold air still blows on the vents as if it was on .

Is this normal??? As far as I know, as long as the blower is turned off, no cooling of the air should happen.

    Thanks.

Same thing happens on mine, so it's normal.
It is weird, but i think the reason is that the AC would overheat or freeze (depending which part you're looking at) if there was _no_ airflow over it.
If you want no air to come out of the vents you need to turn the fan speed dial to "off" and press the a.c button to "off" also.

I dont see it as a big problem, but it is a little quirk.

    Hope that helps

You MUST have air flowing over the a/c when it's on, that's why it's "forced" the a/c would ice up and get lots of nice cold water on your carpet if you ran it for an hour or two without a fan then turned off the car......

Hi, thanks for the replies. It is weird since All cars I have driven usually do not have have air blowing on the vents even if the "AC" switch is turned on.

Air blows when the blower is switched on..right??

    hmmmmm. a Vauxhall feature??

There's 2 ways to do it, have no a/c actually working when the blower is off or have a/c working and the fan on lowest speed when the blower fan is switched off.......
Vaux just chose to have it run... so if you never turn your fan on and just hit a/c it will work straight away... The other way you hit a/c and then have to turn the blower on....

Not a vaux feature have had quite a few cars that did it that way and some the other
