car in garage - bit confused???

ok guys im a bit confused

took my car to the garage this morning to have the faulty timing chain changed, its from a faulty batch (car is a 2.2 Y reg coupe)

well when i took the car to the garage they said that they only had booked it in to investigate the noise. i told them that i wanted it changed cos that what i was told was gonna happen.

anyways i get a phone call from the guy saying that they cant do it today as they dont have all the parts to do the work, they are missing the head gasket!

why do they need to change the head gasket, its only going in for the timing chain!?!?!

...ask them....they shouldn't need to take the engine apart.

It could be a water pump gasket/seal if they are doing everything. Confirm with them exactly what's going to be carried out.

On a 2.2 the timing chain is internal, ir runs inside the block/head assembly. I've just had a look at mine and cant see a way to get to it easily so may head some head disturbance.

i had to do the same with the gsi, they had a look for 3 hours, then i booked in the following day for 'investigative' work, then the actual work took place the day later - which was dependant on what they found......(this was all to do with brakes)

they will get there eventually hun

timing chain on a 2.2 takes around 5-6hours to do. so if they had all the parts in they can do it in one day. ask them to order the part overnight and get it done tomorrow
life's to fast to go slow. so get the turbo.
