    Newbie question

Am going to ask a really daft question here but I've just bought myself an 03 plate Astra, 1.6 SXi, 3 door. Am looking to do it up but am not sure what model it is when I am looking for parts. I'm confused by the whole "Astra G", "Astra 2" etc etc names for the cars....

    Welcome....

This might help if you're a noob to the world of Astras. The letter just denotes the Euro GM code for the car.

    MK1 Astra / Kadett D

    MK2 Astra / Kadett E

    MK3 Astra / Astra F

    MK4 Astra / Astra G

    MK5 Astra / Astra H

No such things. Opel and GM produced their own cars, but slowly GM merged the brands for production savings

Kadette A (equivalent to the Viva HA)

Kadette B (equivalent to the Vauxhall viva HB & HC)

Kadette C (the first car to share some parts - equivalent to the Chevette)

The D's and E's were porduced as both Astra and Kadette and the only merged to becomes all Astra with the F
