    Micra question....????

...yes I know, wrong car but I think the principles will be the same!

Just put a new headunit into my wifes 1999 Micra and it works fine,

    BUT,

    it won't keep its memory!

I've used a wiring adaptor to connect the cars loom to the stereo, so does anyone know about feeding a live to the radio for its memory???

    thanks in advance - andy

swap the red and yellow wire around (from the power part of the plug). One of the wires is permanent live, the other ignition live. swap them around (either swap the pins in the plug around, or if the wires have bullet connectors swap them there) and you'll have memory on the headunit
    Bass, the final frontier

nice one - I actually thought of that - no I did honest, but thought it best to get it confirmed by a knowledgeable person such as yourself!

does that mean the unit will continually be on even when keys taken out?

    cheers

A Micra shouldn't need the red and yellow wires swapped round if you have bought the adaptor lead but it's always worth a try

Have you earthed the black wire seperatly?

    lol - yeah eventually!!!!

I reckoned that about the adaptor (not needing to mess about that is) - but i did notice that there were 5 wires into the cars block and only 4 into the matching block from the unit!
