    Alarm keeps going off?

    1999 mk4 astra SRi

Why oh why does my car alarm keep going off?

There is no one around the car, nothing inside to disrupt it and no one is trying to steal it...

    Anyone got any ideas? HELP.

Is it the siren as opposed to the horn?? If so, it'll probably the power sounder in the passenger side front wing

Common problem at a certain age - search "power sounder" and lll will be revealed

Right, £36.40inc vat. god I love staff discount

Parts advisor laughed when I asked - common fault, he says - 10 in stock, on the shelf.

Is it a wheel off jobbie to get to the sounder?

Yep wheel off and arch liner off/out - it's in the rear of the passenger front wing up against the back of the door hinge.

    Good price BTW

    All sorted.

    Really easy fix.

    Jack car
    Take off wheel
    Pop plastic arch lining out
pull power sounder out and disconnect (with ignition on)
connect new power sounder (with ignition on - should blip once)
    reattach power sounder to hanger

    Job done.

    Took 10 minutes.
