    Question Advice on my Coupe

Iv'e just got a 2.2 coupe and am made up with the performance, looks etc. However, there doesnt seem to be much oomph between 2.5 to 3k revs and after that it revs really well and has loadsa power where i want it. Is this low rev issue normal? Or have i bought a dog? If its normal what induction kit would remedy it? I'm not going to ask any one behind the counter at Halfords a question ever again. Unless its about a bicycle.

    Cheers

    Tom

No, that’s how it is mate. You have to rev the 2.2 but past 3-3500 it’s quick. I wouldn’t put an induction kit as the engine gets very hot so it will bog down due to it sucking in all the warm air.

You’re better off getting a panel filter and de-restricting the airbox to be honest

What if i was to duct air directly to an induction kit? would that eleviate the temperature problems? I must say its a great engine and a bit of a relief that it aint an engine fault. Have you noticed that every man and his dog want a race?

I've just had a look at the torque graph from my last rolling road, and mine has a dip between 2.5 and 3k - so it may be normal (even tho I've never really noticed it).

However your 2.2 will benefit from the following...

    Derestricting the air box (£0)
Replacing the inlet pipe to the air box with one from a Vectra C diesel (£13ish)
Relacing the standard airfilter with a decent panel filter - K&N, piperX or similar (£30-40ish).

Info on these mods is in the How-To's in the Technical queriesw forum (3rd post down)

It will allow the engine to breathe better and feel less asthematic, and liberate a few BHP.

You can pick up the vectra bits, when you go for your mats
