    IAM verdict on Sport Hatch.

    To summerise....

Good looking car but far less practical than the five door.

lol - well - der - of course it is!

    other points......

claustophobic back seats, restricted rearward vision, handles crisply and impressively composed, feels less sporty than it looks, numb steering, high standard of interior build.
why do today what you can...... I'll finish this later

    2958cc was 175BHP @ 4000rpm, 370Nm (273lb.ft.) @ 1900rpm NOW 230BHP/469Nm (344.9lb/ft)!! www.IUsedToOwnTwoAstras.com

Been an IAM member since I was 23 - Don't do club meets (I'm only 30 - Not 50+!) but it's a useful thing to have done.
Kitch - Assume you've had your car chipped.
Where was it done and were they any good?

Mine could probably handle a few more horse and ftlbs.
Ex Golf R32, now mk5 Astra Estate 1.9CDTi (150PS, 232ftlb) Design on fat alloys.

Courtenay Sport did mine - its a Pbox conversion. Yours would go up to around 177bhp for £500 though the last time I was there they told me there is a delay in it's release due to emissions issues - and ours now smokes a fair bit under full throttle.

Kitch - My "green" side (says he who owned a car that kicked out 276g/km!! for a year) would like the car to remain EURO4 compliant.

Only a thought but maybe I'll wait until they've sorted the issues out.

I might do the unsensible thing and get a nice low emissions loon mobile (Westy/VX220T, etc) instead.
Will see - Car currently at the dealers having major electrical problem sorted. Will see how serious it is.

Interesting........I find the steering in my 2.0T SRI sports hatch fairly communicative - seems to be a good balance between decent feedback and fighting in your hands over every bump. Wonder which spec/engine they tested?

    Agreed about rear vision though!
