A good rule of thumb, but not always true Paul, as ABS was offered as an option on some 4 studs cars.

(awaits 4 stud owners, proclaimig "I've got ABS")

its the quickest and novice way - its a rule of thumb

Essentially quickly eliminating the possibility if he does have 5 studs, as all 5 studs were ABS.

The 4 stud optional ABS is rare, and mostly Opel / grey import.

(waits for someone to say they have 5 studs without ABS)
