    Preserving Saphirre Black Paintwork

    Any body got any recomendations on any wax or gloss i can use to:
    1. get the scratch's out of the paintwork (T cuts got most out but few are a little bit worse!)
    2. What kinda wax or coating can i put over the paintwork that will last the winter and that?

    its all good mate, i used this stuff on the mk3 yesterday and was amazed with the results, got rid of all the surface scratches and left the paint work gleaming - really easy to use as well

    Only wish i had used products this good when i had my saphire black mk4!

    Loking at buying this kit:

    Meguiar's 3 Step Deep Crystal Long Lasting Paint Protection System
    Creating awesome results is not always possible in a single step, this three-step system is ideal for serious enthusiasts as well as those who have paintwork that has not been cared for as often as it should have been. Each product is designed to achieve a specific result and should be applied in numerical sequence.

    How often are you ment to wax it (Once a year isnt it?)

    the 3 stage is supposed to be the daddy, im too much of a lazy git to use it tho as it does take a bit of time. If anything will sort out your black paintwork then that will.

    I think a good wax will last for about 6 months. You can buy a spray on "booster" wax from meguiars as well to top it up when its needed too.

    Forzie, I also have a black car (midnight black) and use and do the following:

    1.wait for a day when the sun is not beating down and the car is cool to touch
    2.Rinse car with hose to get large particles off
    3.Wash car with warm water and Meg's NXT tech wax & wool mitt <----- amazing stuff! (I also detail the car with a clay bar at this time if it needs it)
    4. leather car dry
    5.At this point I scratch X if it needs it
    6.Then I use Meg's Stage 2 Polish to bring depth and Shine to the paint.
    7.Now I seal in the polish with a good coat of Wax, at the moment I am finishing up a tub of Meg's Gold Class Wax, after thats gone im gonna either go for Megs NXT Tech Wax or Meg's Stage 3.
    8.Thats the paint done! Now I focus on the glass, try and get your hands on some Alcohol and spray bottle, dilute some alcohol with water, and spray on the window, dry to a haze with a 100% cotton cloth and finish the drying with a scrumpled up piece of newspaper! YES Newspaper! its a trade secret.

    DONE! Oh a few points, I do the wheels before I do the paint, and dont use the same sponge/mitt, it is also handy to do the interior before you do the outside.
    Remember to dry the slam panels, door and boot shuts, and inside the petrol flap etc.

    The Megs odour eliminator is amazing, I bought some, sprayed it in my car, then that night a mate got in my car and commented that my car smelt like a brand new car!

    Shoe car shine!

    Get Stage 2 aswell mate, I know it sounds like a lot of work, but you dont need to do it as often as you think, 8 - 10 weeks depending on car use/ weather/washes etc.

    The Polish gives the depth, shine and paint nourishment. The wax then PROTECTS that polish layer. People forget that the Wax coat is MEANT to deteoriate, it does this to stop the paint deteoriating. so the wax layer will need to be re-applyed more often than the polsih.

    Basic rule:

    Polish = Shine
    Wax = Protection

    It's all good! and once you've done it, it is really satisfying to see your car gleaming!
