    Changing Rear Springs!!!

I`m off on me hols next week and I`ve got to take my Astra to the airport... I`m worried that my wheels will catch fully loaded with 4 lads and luggage.. So I`m going to put my standard rear springs back on... Are they easy to do?? Jack it up, bottom shocker bolts off and lower axle and thats it ain`t it??? Will tackle in on sunday!!!

    It's DEAD easy...

I undid the top shock bolt (which can be seen when you jack the car all the way up) and didn't even have to take the wheel off..... you have to lever the springs a little to get them off, but they are under almost no compression at all (so no danger) once the car is jacked all the way up.... Do one side at a time (there is a how to) and "pull" the axle down as you do it as it gives you an extra cm or two to use... I just used a big screwdriver to lever them off, easy, done! Took about 30mins

[edit - after you jack the car up, put jackstands under and low the car onto them!!! that gives you the stability needed... make sure you chock the wheels too!!!]
