    Dell Inspiron 2200

I've just ordered one of these laptops for univeristy from dell.co.uk.

Has anyone any experience in using this model? Any feedback they can give me? Or has anyone used the Inspiron series or even just a Dell laptop?

    Thanks in advance.

I had a dell laotop from work - it was very good as far as laptops go, but all the buttons are in the wrong place when your used to a desktop and I personally can't get on with them.

    So it went back

Agree with you Ffoeg, dell laptops are well built but the keyboard layout can be tricky if your not use to them from a desktop keyboard.

But a bit of time and persiverance and you will probably get use to the new keyboard layout

Not a bad laptop but watch the power connector.. they break easy and then need new motherboard.. so be gentle with the plug and always put it in right way up.

We've not had many problems with Dell laptops. They're not anywhere as well built as HP/Compaq's business laptops. The Dells tend to be very creaky with slack joints and feeling fragile after a year of use. The Compackards tend to weather tough abuse better, but they're quite a bit more expensive.

Only issues recently with Dell is the drifting pointer from the nipple pointer on the keyboard issue. Dell swap in a new keyboard and all is happy. That's on Latitude D600/D800 though.
