    Colour Coding Roof Guttering Strips

Anyone had the roof guttering stip colour coded?

My local bodyshop are not keen to under take the job - they say I may experience problems with the paint.

They are colour coded on the Coupe's ! But are these different parts and maybe they come pre primed from Vauxhall ?

Had mine done about a year ago and no problems.

They are only painted aluminium extrusion, so quite frankly they're talking out their butts.
I suggest you find another bodyshop

TBH - it's my company bodyshop and they have done loads for me - FOC.

I know they are mega busy so prob making excuses !

The only problem I can see is that they will probably need to put them in the oven for a day or so to dry out any moisture around the slots where the roof rack can go.

I think it's a good idea, was contemplating it for mine, but not sure if it would like - maybe too much red perhaps?

Yep -dead easy to get off.

Start at the bottom of the windscreen and carfully prise then up an off the clips. Then slowly work towards the rear - 10 imn job.

(This way works and I odn't care what Haynes says )

Wouldn't the slidey clips bits for the roof rack cause a bit of a problem? I'd imagine that if they weren't sealed up/filled in you'd end up with unpleasant looking scratches as soon as someone absent mindedly fiddles about with them?

I was told that (for my 5 door anyway) it could be done, but would involve a bit of hassle.

Not at all - if this was the case don't you think the original finish would get scratched, during normal operation?? Go and have a look at the ones on you car - when you press themm down and slide them back they are designed to pass under the main rai with a clearance, in little plasitc runners.

I can't see why it's a bit of hastle - they are literally 2 mins to get off, and 5 to put back on. I sprayed mine myself and encountered no problems.

just out of interest.. i was thinking of respraying mine black as they are a little .. shabby..

But on my car.. you think there may be another colour that suites ?? cause blacks boring but i like the different colour as it breaks the car up a lot.

I got silver mesh so was thinking of silver but then after having silver wing mirrors for the week i decided againt that, lol
