    really??? that low?
My 1.8 is using a bit of oil - could be crankshaft oil seal, but also smell sweet underneath which is gearbox oil.
so either little leak or using oil and leaking gearbox- now at 69k

    60k would be a rebuild/refurb jobbie IIRC.

Griff, my 1.8 popped its oil pump at 23k. Hairline crack in the casing. Manifested itself with a small oil leak out past crank-pulley, I thought it was an oil seal but ended up as the pump. Fixed under warranty though, and with 40k she's using no oil (well, not a noticeable drop on dipstick between the 10k oil changes I do).

Is it really that low for turbo motors, only 60k?!? I've seen 1.8s and 2.2s with well over 100k on them, and my first ever Astra (Mk2 1.4 Merit estate, 3dr in white, but with Nova SR alloys, don't laugh please!!) had done 200k before I drove it to the scrap yard owing to rust! It was getting oil changes evey 5k though!! (So easy to do)
