    Unhappy Need advice

    Hi

I have a 1.8 Sri and dont really know much about engines. Ive always put Redex down the carboreta on the wifes old corsa and I have stupidy put some down where the air filter attaches and where the (buterfly) is, where you normally clean round on my Astra

I know now its a stupid thing to do and I wont be touching anything under any bonnet for a long long time

Ive asked a mechanic friend he says it should be ok, but stop ****** around. (sound advice)

Since doing it I have done a trip from w yorks to windsor and back and everything seems fine (appart from the air con making some wierd noises from the engine bay.....

Like I said I know its a Stooooooopid thing to do as I know nothing about cars. Is there any precuations I should take? Will it do anything bad?

Any advice welcome, I didnt put much in at all, couple of dribbles

    Thanks

I doubt very much if any harm will have been done at all. All redex does is help clean a carburettor's working part (and the upper cylinder - valves etc). A throttle boddy on an injected car is very similar to a carb in principle, except that that the petrol is delivered differently.

Now stop worrying, put the bottle on the ground and back away slowly.

He he, Dont make me laugh man!!!!!!

Im hoping that the problem with the air con is completely seperate...

So there is nothing that you would do then? just leave it!!

I aint touching the damm bonnet release again, Ive had a crap weekend worying about it in windsor. Will the 450 mile journey have helped get rid of it.

    Thanks mate

The air con and what (you think) you've done are totally un-related to each other.

If it was just a few dribbles (what ½teaspoon??) a short drive would have easily burnt it through the engine and out the back.

    Stop worrying.

Is that 'bottle of all trouble' in the shed yet??
