vauxhall rate both car to have almost indentical performance on paper

100BHP and 10.5 second to 60 for both engines

but in reality the diesel is slightly quicker due to the fact that it has got 170lb.ft of torque compared with 110lb.ft for the petrol

epscially if you came to a hill the diesel would still accelerate quite well but to get similar accelartion from the petrol you would need to down shift which will waste time

same insurance group (around 5) they did make alot of different engines for the astravan if i remember correctly, the dti engines are turbo, stay clear of the DI engines, they are so flat!
Fitted options: Folding mirrors, cruise control, dual tone horn, remap.
    Next: Bluetooth

is there really as many mods for the dti engine?
does any of you 2 have MSN?? i really wanna tune this up and seems like im gonna endup with a dti..

also i know dump valve dosent really do anything on the deisel but does it still actually make a noise? also will induction kit still make induction noise or does the horrible sound of the deisil engin drown that out?

what about back box.. do they sound like they do on petrol or dont they work on the deisil?

sorry about all the questions, i just dont wanna buy summat and wish i didnt..

for tuning the 1.6 16V is far better.

yes the diesel dump valves still make a noise as they are operated by a micro switch (so i am lead to believe)

the best option for tuning a diesel is a remap. but in general vauxhall diesel engines aren't the most tuneable.

when i say tunnable i aint really on about big amounts.. i just want it so that its still fairly quick, i also want to be able to use back box and induction kit on them.. is this still possible?
will the back box still make a deeper sound etc like they do on the petrols?
also where can i find the dump valves for deisels?

tuning box / remap is good for 130bhp and ~ 200lbs/ft. I've had a panel filter on mine and it seemed to pick up a bit better. Dumpvalve might be a bit crap as they only boost to .6/.7 bar. Turbo is a very tiny Garrett T2 unit.
