Easiest and cheapest was is to..........

    1. Derestrict your airbox - how to here
    2. Fit a vectra C inlet pipe - how to here
    3. Add a K&N or PiperX panel filter.
    4. Turn off your Caps lock

for more gen - do a search, it's been throughly covered by all and sundry in the past.

you will be better off with a replacement pannel filter and de-restricting you air box and fitting a veccy c cold air feed as this helps reduce the effect of the heat from the engine as the MK4 astra engine bay gets very hot so an induction kit will suck in a lot of the hot air and reduce performance.

but it will sound a lot better so if you only want sound then go for the induction kit but if you performance over sound then get the pannel filter

    Hi guys,

just a quick questions, what are the advantages to derestricting the air box as show in the above giude.

Does it make a major difference in sounds or performance?

    Thanks

    David

makes sod all sound differenec it is all perfromance* as it shelids the air filter from all the heat under the engine bay as the mk4 engine bays get rather hot.

*it wont make your car any faster really but it will definatly improve throttle response and remove any small flat spots.

    Ok thanks for your asnwer..

So it shelids air the filter from getting hot? by removing it then won't it just let more hot air in? wouldn't this reduce preformance?

Sorry new to all this! lol but think its an easy mod to do .. just woundering about it..

The pipes concentrate the incoming air into a small area of the filter within the airbox - removing the pipes allows more of the filter to be used. In a way it effectively increases the size of the filter allowing more air to pass through (should the engine demand it).

It's the airbox that shields the intake charge from surrounding hot (engine heated) air - nothing to do with the internal pipage
