    Astra Electrics

Hi, I own a 1997 Astra mark 3 1.6 LS 5 door, which at present only has electric front windows (factory fit), the mirrors and sunroof are manually operated.

However, i'm wanting to fit rear electric windows, mirrors and sunroof, I've been informed that the wiring for these features is already there and all i need is the motors and to wire the wiring up to the drivers door and/or fusebox. is this correct?

secondly, I'm wanting to fit illuminated rear grab handles and front heated seats, again I've been told the grab handle wiring is all there and only needs wired to the interior courtesy light, and that with the seats my car has the wiring and it simply plugs into switches at 1 end and into the seats at the other. is this correct as well.

Cheers for any info in advance.

    Firstly welcome to Astra-sport.

Secondly - electric sunroof conversion: easy get the panel and motor form a scrap cavalier.
Grab handle wiring wasn't on my MK3 Sport -but I fitted lights from an omega - very easy to do.

not sure on the others but do a search I remember this cropping up before.

if the wiring is there for the rear leccy windows you will need

    switch's
    motors
window runners that attach to the motor
door cards to replace the standard ones which will have the holes for the winders once leccy windows are fitted.

thats about it really just makesure they come for a higher spec'd MK3 so that they will deffinatly fit

aye Gez, bad luck mate. lol.

thanks for the replys people. sunroof and windows sound easy, is fitting the electric mirrors to a mk3 exactly the same procedure as fitting them to a mk4??

    cheers.

i have never done it to the MK3 but done it to my MK4 and i can't see why it wouldn't be any different as long as all the wires are there.

you may need to add fuses in the fuse box for all the electrics to work and a relay if the wing mirrors are heated

the only thing is that i'm sure the door switch for the mk3 has a sort of plug thing on it, whereas on the how to guides for the mk4 on this site, it doesnt tell you anything about the plug on the mk4 door switch

so Im a bit confused about tht.

    thanks for info mate.

by door switch do you meant the switch that located on the drivers door to move the mirrors??

if so there IS a plug in the loom on the MK4 that plugs into the back of mirror switch.

so i would imagine that there is for the MK3 aswell.
