    fuel gauge

the fuel gauge on my coupe has started to play up, as it reads about a 1/4 of a tank out, spoke to vauxhall the other day and they said it could be either the gauge or the sender in the tank and they want £45 an hour to try and find which it is. but then last night the gauge dropped into the red and the digi display came up with F miles, the display was showing how many miles i had left in my tank before this came up, it stayed on for about 1 min then went off and the gauge went back up to being a 1.4 of a tank out. any ideas?

Probably the sender unit is the culprit - an old astra of mine got through 4 in the 3 years that I owned it

They don't start off bad! I had my car since new and based on how much I can fill up, and the indication of the needle on the gauge and the mpg display and the miles left...I would say its all within about 5% of reality.

I wonder if they get worse with age!

I park my car on a slope, come out and the light is flashing...... i have half a tank of fuel and for 30mins it's STILL flashing..... i park and start again 4 hours later, STILL flashing.... somehow, until i fill it to the top it doesn't reset itself!
