    Changing Steering wheel

Is this a job that i can do myself or is it something that i need to take to Vaux because of the Airbag? The new one does not come with an airbag but i have the one from my car.

Its not too difficult. Just treat the steering wheel wiring and airbag with utmost care. layiong the airbag down upright and WELL out of the way - Remember to disconnect the battery forst before starting this work- and leave disconnected for 2 minutes before disconnecting any wiring as the airbag has a backup on them.

never had to tech2 mine by disconnecting the battery - the only time i did have to tech 2 it was when i mistakenly disconnected the airbag whilst the ignition was on - oops

I didnt disconnect the battery on mine, just leave it for a while and then whip the old wheel off. Might need a steering wheel puller if it doesnt budge easily but these are only a couple of quid from your local motor supplies. Quick and fairly easy job to do if you have the right parts.

Danny led me along the right path - you DO NOT need to take the battery off - just make sure the keys stay away from the ignition till its all done! I've done it about 10 times now lol. You just need the small torx bit for 2 screws behind the wheel (that hold the airbag on) and one really big one for the main torx screw that holds the actual wheel on. Although you could get away with some pliers to be honest...

Haynes still states disconnecting the battery.

Coo - the original wording is that he is changing the wheel and refitting the original steering wheel centre including airbag. so wont effect insurance.
